OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the charge associated with each side of the HI molecule? What is the percent ionic character of the H−I bond?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

This will help you with ionic bond character there is a formula in these notes for it: https://usflearn.instructure.com/courses/986898/files/31117039 You will need to get some arbitrary values for the electronegativity of both atoms it should be supplied in your text book or you should be able to find some online (make sure you reference the source if you do that) Remember a higher electronegativity the stronger the affinity of that element for electrons.

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

The element with a higher electronegativity will pull electrons away from an atom with a lower electronegativity.

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Note electronegativity is the opposite of electropositivity
