Can someone explain the second law of thermodynamics in simple terms? .-.

OpenStudy (mia99):

The second law of thermodynamics states that - in an isolated physical system - over time there is a general increase of entropy for the total system... Over time, differences in temperature, pressure, and chemical potential equilibrate in an isolated physical system. What the law DOES NOT state is the impossibility, within the isolated system, for localized increasing order to occur. Such increasing order will be at the expense of general system entropy

thank you!
