WILL GIVE A MEDAL, PLEASE HELP! An atom of sodium has an atomic mass of 23 and an atomic number of 11. The atom contains 23 protons, 23 electrons, and 11 neutrons. 11 protons, 11 electrons, and 12 neutrons. 11 protons, 12 electrons, and 11 neutrons. 23 protons, 12 electrons, and 23 neutrons.

11 protons 11 electrons and 12 neutrons

What alexis said, because the atomic mass of a neutron and proton each are 1 atomic mass unit (amu) So 12 + 11 = 23. Which is the mass carried by the atom or the atomic mass. The atomic number is the number of protons carried by the atom, which is 11. Or the number of electrons carried by a neutral atom which is also 11 :)
