determine number of water molecules and number of hydrogen and oxygen atoms in 3.26 grams of water. I know how to solve it for water but not for individual hydrogen and oxygen. Please help!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

|dw:1411506237579:dw| Each water molecule is made of two H atoms and one O atom. So if you have 12 molecules, you have 12 O atoms and 24 H atoms.

so since I have 1.09x10^23 H20 molecule, do I just divide in 3?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no, each molecule is made of 3 atoms. O atoms = 1.09x10^23 H atoms = 1.09x10^23 * 2

oh I think I understood it thanks!!

no problem !
