If you put sodium chloride into water what happens? The salt will naturally dissolve, you can test this. now because they separate into water, anything that separates so easy into water has to be Ionic Bond. Ionic bonds are between one metal and one non metal. Sodium is the metal, Chloride is the nonmetal ---) ionic bond.
