PLEASE HELP ME!! FAN AND MEDAL!!
A quadratic equation is shown below: 9x^2 - 36x + 36 = 0 Part A: Describe the solution(s) to the equation by just determining the radicand. Show your work. (3 points) Part B: Solve 2x^2 - 9x + 7 = 0 using an appropriate method. Show the steps of your work and explain why you chose the method used.(4 points) Part C: Solve 3x^2 - 12x + 2 = 0 by using a method different from the one you used in Part B. Show the steps of your work. (3 points)
ok so im thinking for part A the radicand is 2
Simplifying 9x2 + -36x + 36 = 0 Reorder the terms: 36 + -36x + 9x2 = 0 Solving 36 + -36x + 9x2 = 0 Solving for variable 'x'. Factor out the Greatest Common Factor (GCF), '9'. 9(4 + -4x + x2) = 0 Factor a trinomial. 9((2 + -1x)(2 + -1x)) = 0 Ignore the factor 9. Subproblem 1 Set the factor '(2 + -1x)' equal to zero and attempt to solve: Simplifying 2 + -1x = 0 Solving 2 + -1x = 0 Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right. Add '-2' to each side of the equation. 2 + -2 + -1x = 0 + -2 Combine like terms: 2 + -2 = 0 0 + -1x = 0 + -2 -1x = 0 + -2 Combine like terms: 0 + -2 = -2 -1x = -2 Divide each side by '-1'. x = 2 Simplifying x = 2 Subproblem 2 Set the factor '(2 + -1x)' equal to zero and attempt to solve: Simplifying 2 + -1x = 0 Solving 2 + -1x = 0 Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right. Add '-2' to each side of the equation. 2 + -2 + -1x = 0 + -2 Combine like terms: 2 + -2 = 0 0 + -1x = 0 + -2 -1x = 0 + -2 Combine like terms: 0 + -2 = -2 -1x = -2 Divide each side by '-1'. x = 2 Simplifying x = 2Solution x = {2, 2}
yup so its 2
ok then for part b -1
um the method is Pull out like factors -2x2 - 9x - 7 = -1 • (2x2 + 9x + 7) Factoring 2x2 + 9x + 7 The first term is, 2x2 its coefficient is 2 . The middle term is, +9x its coefficient is 9 . The last term, "the constant", is +7 Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant 2 • 7 = 14 Step-2 : Find two factors of 14 whose sum equals the coefficient of the middle term, which is 9 . -14 + -1 = -15 -7 + -2 = -9 -2 + -7 = -9 -1 + -14 = -15 1 + 14 = 15 2 + 7 = 9
Step-3 : Rewrite the polynomial splitting the middle term using the two factors found in step 2 above, 2 and 7 2x2 + 2x + 7x + 7 Step-4 : Add up the first 2 terms, pulling out like factors : 2x • (x+1) Add up the last 2 terms, pulling out common factors : 7 • (x+1) Step-5 : Add up the four terms of step 4 : (2x+7) • (x+1) lol yup does that make sense??
im not really good at math but i think im right
I think my brain just exploded. Lol. I'm sooo confused
ok for part c.. um its 4 i think
ok ill expalin it to you
lol u should have told me u didnt understand ;D ok so what do u want me 2 explain?
I don't know... Its just confusing. I'll brb I have to get off for a sec
kk
well lemme know when u get back
Backkk
lol srry bout that
okkk so u want me 2 explain it to u?
Yes that would be terrific
Btw.. I just glanced at your bio. How can you be 13 and understand how to do this? Lol
Haha if you don't wanna help you don't have to
lol nah ill help i mean i gave u the answer so ill have to explain it 2 u, am i right pupil bass?
Lol yea i'd appreciate the help
kk then (btw what grade r u in?) um do u get aprt a cause Destiny spelled out the whole thing literraly
I'm a sophomore. Math isn't my forte. Lol And I get that @Destinycholie spelled everything out, but she didn't label the parts a, b, and c, which confuses me as to what each step completed
Ohhhhkkk um lets see she olny did part a, i ahte math but sadly im good at it
hate*
Yeah I agree. Haha
lol :D ok so as i was saying she only explained part A soo part b i explained too um if u go up u can check it out... and lemme know if u want me to explain it further
Yeah sorry i am in the middle of text and trying to help people + do my homework lol
lol :D
dont worry ill explain it 2 him :D if he wants
ok then so u understand part b?
brb
kk im back
Okay. I understand what you guys got as answers, but how do I show my work? I need to keep it as simple as possible while still fulfilling the requirement.
