6x^(3/11)-42=0

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well rewrite it as \[6x^{\frac{3}{11}} = 42\] divide both sides by 6 \[x^{\frac{3}{11}} = 7\] so raise both sides of the equation to the 11th power then take the cube root of both sides to find the value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says I can only write it as a fraction and not a decimal. I got 7.73 but I don't know how to get a fraction

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well its \[x^3 = 7^{11}\] now take the cube root \[x = \sqrt[3]{7^{11}} = 7^{\frac{11}{3}}\]
