OpenStudy (tabithax3):

How do you convert 134 kJ to Calories?

OpenStudy (cuanchi):

1cal=4.18J 1kJ=1000J if you are talking about food Cal = 1kcal in food info they use Cal with a capital C to reefer at 1000 calories (thermodynamics) with a lower cap "c" just google it 134 kilojoules = 32.0267686 kilocalories

OpenStudy (tabithax3):

@Cuanchi I did google it, but I wanted to see how they converted. I got 1 kJ = 0.239 Cal or 1 Cal = 4.184 kJ. Does it matter which conversion I use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

EXAMPLE: Convert 0.6 kilojoules to thermochemical calories. E(cal) = 0.6kJ × 239.0057 = 143.4 calth kJ to 15ºC calories 1 cal15 = 0.0041855 kJ 1 kJ = 238.9201 cal15 The energy in 15ºC calories E(cal15) is equal to the energy in kilojoules E(kJ) times 238.9201: E(cal15) = E(kJ) × 238.9201

OpenStudy (cuanchi):

1 Cal = 4.184 kJ 1 kJ = 0.239 Cal

OpenStudy (tabithax3):

@Cuanchi It doesn't matter which conversion I use right? The answer will be 32.0 Cal for both conversion

OpenStudy (cuanchi):

yes doesn't matter which one you use, you suppose to get the same answer with either of them

OpenStudy (tabithax3):

@Cuanchi Thank you!
