Quick Question: What is the oxidation number of S in \(\Large \sf (S_4 O_6)^{2-}\)? My teacher said its 2+, but why?? it doesn't work though? O.o

OpenStudy (aaronq):

The middle S are 0 and the one's on the ends (attatched to the oxygens) are +5 (each). Not idea why your teacher said +2
