Your weekly gross pay is $1,250. Each week you have $64.37 in deductions, plus state tax of 2% of gross pay, Social Security taxes of 6.2%, and Medicare taxes of 1.45%. What is your net pay?

OpenStudy (kl0723):

I guess you will need to substract first, since you have a deduction and from there apply each percentage to the total gross pay and substract it too.

OpenStudy (kl0723):

so you start with 1250-64.37=1185.63 then you need to apply 2% to your gross pay, so that is: (0.02)x(1250)= $25 now substract that from 1185.63... 1185.63-25= 1160.63

OpenStudy (kl0723):

similarly apply the next percentage and substract the answer from 1160.63, let me know if you got it ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay yeah i got it, thanks!

OpenStudy (kl0723):

everytime you substract the applied percentage, the following will be substracted to the new total obtained from the previous one, otherwise it will be wrong...
