OpenStudy (clamin):

PLEASE HELP!! Element X has 2 natural isotopes. The isotope X-10 has a relative abundance of 19.91%. The isotope X-11 has a relative abundance of 80.09%. Calculate the atomic mass of this element.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

It's a weighted average, \(\sf Mass_{average}=\sum (mass_i*abundance_i)\) in other words, multiply the mass of each isotope by it's abundance and add these values together.

OpenStudy (clamin):

what is the mass?? @aaronq

OpenStudy (aaronq):

X-10 is 10 and X-11 is 11
