i'm right and deserve a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so far i did 128mph converted equalls 57.2m/s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.5*57.2+0=28.6m/s 28.6*57.2/9.8=167m is this right?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

you need to know that the maximum kinetic energy of the rollercoaster at its top speed will equal the maximum potential energy when it is at its highest hill (ignoring friction)

OpenStudy (jfraser):

\[KE = PE\]so \[\frac{1}{2}*m*v^2 = m*g*h\]you don't know the mass of the car, but it cancels out anyway\[\frac{1}{2}*\cancel{m}*v^2 = \cancel{m}*g*h\]rearrange to solve for h, which is the maximum height of the roller coaster
