PLEASE HELP I'VE BEEN ON THIS FOR A LONG TIME PLEASE HELP

Refer to the following illustration to answer Question 10. The block in the illustration is floating in water. Water has a density of 1.0 g/cm3 and about 25 percent of the block is below water. What is a good estimate of the density of the block? (Points: 3) 0.25 g/cm3 0.50 g/cm3 0.75 g/cm3 1.00 g/cm3

.25 medal me to let me know if I am right

OpenStudy (striker1298):

My best guess would be C....

OpenStudy (aum):

The weight of the block is balanced by the buoyancy force. Weight of the block = mg Buoyancy force = weight of the displaced liquid = 1/4 * volume of block * density of water * g Find m / V for the block.

okay

OpenStudy (aum):

Instead of guessing try to solve the equation in my previous reply.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh it is 75 i think i *

OpenStudy (aum):

\[ \text{Weight of the object = Buoyancy force} \\ M_{\text{object}} * g = \frac 14 * V_{\text{object}} * \rho _{\text{water}} * g \\ \frac{M_{\text{object}}}{V_{\text{object}}} = \frac{\rho _{\text{water}}}{4} = \frac 14 \\ \rho_{\text{object}} = \frac{M_{\text{object}}}{V_{\text{object}}} = \frac 14 = 0.25~gm/cm^3 \]

oh thanks 0.25
