Find a polynomial equation with integer coefficients that has the given numbers as solutions and the indicated degree. 1, 2+3i; degree 3

OpenStudy (gorv):

solution means root of the equation

OpenStudy (gorv):

one root =1 now complex root always occur in pair

OpenStudy (gorv):

so the other root will be 2-3i

OpenStudy (gorv):

u have 3 root now

OpenStudy (gorv):

=(x-x1)(x-x2)(x-x3) it ie the equation with root= x1,x2,x3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok will it look like this? (x-1) (x-2+3i) (x-2-3i)

OpenStudy (gorv):

yep u did that ...well done :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you.

OpenStudy (gorv):

welcome:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would you foil this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@gorv

OpenStudy (gorv):

yeah say???

OpenStudy (gorv):

where u need help??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

foiling this (x-1) (x-2+3i) (x-2-3i)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks. I know how to use it but im not sure how the equation turns out with imaginary numbers?

OpenStudy (gorv):

just follow that consider complex number as aor something and proceed

OpenStudy (gorv):

and in the end replace a by complex number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this right x^3-5x^2+17x-13 ? @gorv

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dan815 can you help?

OpenStudy (dan815):

yea
