What is the main difference between a homogeneous mixture and a heterogeneous mixture?

hhhhhheeeeellllllooooo

OpenStudy (abb0t):

homogeneous, as the prefix implies, \(homo\) means same. This, the mixture is all the same composition. For instance, if you put salt in water, the salt dissolves and becomes a uniform mixture. Although there are salt ions and probably other impurities in the water, but they are dissolved and thus, is all just one component. on the otherhand, heterogenous mixture, \(\sf hetero\) meaning different, means that there are multiple components that are not dissolved together. An example of this is your breakfast morning cereal. You see the milk and the chunks of fruit loops that you have floating around are seperate.
