My question is in the comments. Please help me. I think the answer is A.
Why do you think the answer is A ?
Because the graph is increasing. I also think the answer could be C
How is the graph increasing for A and C?
Always move to the right. From negative to positive. From -2 to 0, the value INCREASES from ~2 to ~6. And a similar pattern is seen for all values of x<0. Hence, for x<0, f(x) is increasing. On the other hand; From 0 to 2, the value DECREASES from ~6 to ~2. A similar pattern is seen for the rest x>0. Thus, for x>0, f(x) is decreasing. The answer is D. Understood? :)
Yes thank you. Very helpful.
Can you help me with one more please?
Yes, try it yourself once.
What do you think? I gave you the explanation. This is a very similar problem. :)
A?
Why?
If they talk about x < -2, move right, see how the function works from -4 ---> -2 If x > 2, more right, see how the function works from 2 ----> 5 etc etc
So it is A?
The graph is increasing when e move from -2 to -4 or to -6, but that is not the convention. To really judge is a function is increasing or not we see how it increases from a lower x to a higher x. It, hence, is decreasing for x < -2
So B?
x > -2 ? The y value is increasing and NOT decreasing. Because if we move from -2 to say 10, the value of f(10) > f(-2)
My head hurts. So is it D? I think it's D.
CORRECT ANSWER!
YAY! THANK YOU!!!
