A person suffering from hyponatremia has a sodium ion concentration in the blood of 0.106 M and a total blood volume of 4.1 L. What mass of sodium chloride would need to be added to the blood to bring the sodium ion concentration up to 0.136 M, assuming no change in blood volume?
find out how many grams of sodium chloride are \(present\) in the 0.106M hyponatremia, and find out how many grams of sodium chloride \(need to be present\) in the 0.136M "normal" case, and
Molarity(hyponatremia)*volume = Molarity(normal level)*volume
you can do the difference between the two molarities and multiply by the total blood volume, because the volume doesn't change you will get the moles of Na (0.136M-0.106)* 4.1= moles of sodium then multiply the moles of Na by the molecular mass of the NaCl to calculate the mass of NaCl
