Solid lithium iodide decomposes into solid lithium and iodine gas. What is the balanced chemical equation?

OpenStudy (zale101):

Do you remember how to write the chemical formulas for compounds or elements? If you want to start by balancing the equation, you'd have to start by writing the formulas and then balance afterwards.

OpenStudy (zale101):

lithium iodide is LiO, lithium is Li and iodine is I, LiO will decompose to Li and I2 so that means 2Li(s) + I2(g) --> 2LiI(s)

Thank you so much!!

NP :D
