OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

A light bar AB supports a 15-Kg block at its midpoint C, Rollers at A and B rest against frictionliess surfaces, and a horizontal cable AD is attached at A. Determine (a) the tension in cable AD, (b) the reactions at A and B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the surfaces are frictionless, the reaction at A is weight of the block. So, Ra = 15g N The reaction at B is tension in the cable AD. So, Rb = T.|dw:1414624049089:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find tension T in the cable, write the torque equation for torque of the bar about B. The equation should be \(Ra \times AD = W \times AD/2 + T \times BD \) Solve this for T.
