When 10.0 mL of the 0.50 M solution is diluted to 100 mL as shown, what is the new concentration?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the equation M1V1 = M2V2 to find the new concentration. M represents the molarity while the V represents the volume.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk how to do that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you plug in 0.50 M for M1 and 10.0 mL for V1. Then, you plug in 100 mL for V2 and M2 is the x. Multiply 0.50 M and 10.0 mL and, then divide by 100 mL. Basically, you are solving for the x which is the new concentration.

i got 0.050 is this correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, you got it.
