In triangle PQU and triangle PRT, why would line PQ and line PR be congruent? I can't remember what the theorem is called. The picture will be in the comments.

we would need some more info before we can prove segment PQ and segment PR are congruent....

do we know if the two triangles are congruent ... or can we prove it using the other angles or sides?

All the problem is asking me to do is identify any common sides or angles of the two triangles. I have everything else figured out I just need to remember what that theorem is called.

I know why all the other angles and lines are congruent, I just need to figure out why line PQ and PR are congruent.

I think I'm just stupid... man I don't even know.. I know that angle P is congruent to angle P by reflexive property, I think line QU is congruent to line RT by mid-segment theorem (not completely sure on that one) and that's it. There's no givens or anything. The question is "Identify any common sides or angles of triangle PQU and triangle PRT."

Oh I know that. I'm not offended or anything. I'm just saying that I'm not even sure if line PQ is congruent to line PR. It was more like a shout into the void hoping my instinct was right. I appreciate you trying to help me. Sorry if I confused you and made such a big fuss over nothing.

Jelly you are awesome always go with your first instinct, and also I was horrible at geometry(at first) . But I confused you by asking you the wrong questions. Sorry! Listen we will get this no matter always believe yourself, even if you don't just keep telling yourself to believe you. I am not saying everyone is perfect or anything because people do make mistakes(Believe me! I'm in the same boat). However, afraid to make those mistakes, that is how we learn. Don't be afraid to keep moving forward no how hard you fail!

RT is a side of PRT right ? and PQU is a side of QU right ? So couldn't we us the side-side-side theorem to prove it true ?

Using the transitive property ? It's only a guess

and the symmetric property of course !

Wait so would line PQ be congruent to line PR by symmetric property? I'm still a little confused by the definitions. I would know if there was examples.

Let's say that RT is a right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RT is A TR is B PR is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RT = QU so A = QU because you proved that correctly I know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO therefore we have proved that one of the sides of the triangle is equal to another
