What is the key difference between a liquid and a gas?

OpenStudy (fortheloveofwolves):

is there answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry no answer choices

Hi @jeff123andrew , Welcome to OpenStudy !

OpenStudy (abhisar):

The key difference lies in the energy of particles. The particles of gases have very high amount of kinetic energy and are able to move away from each other very easily also the attractive force between the particles in a liquid is least. But, the particles of liquid have lesser amount of kinetic energy and thus can not move away from each other beyond a limit and hence have a definite volume. Also intermolecular energy between the particles of liquid is greater than gases but lesser than solids.

this is easy haha liguid is just slower moving molecules and gas is just faster moving molecules.
