**WILL MEDAL** Which mixture can be classified as a solution? A. fruit salad B. H2O C. liquid nitrogen D. air

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solution It is essentially when two or more substances are together in a uniform way, homogeneous. So no matter how you portion it you will always get the same ratio of things together. fruit salad is not homogeneous the fruit usually separates and is not distributed homogeneously. If you took a bowl of fruit salad and removed half of it to another bowl it wont have equal amounts of fruit in both bowls. H2O is not a solution because it does not contain more than one substance liquid nitrogen is also not a solution for the same reason H2O is not a solution

Soo d right?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

yeah earths atmosphere is most like a solution in this list. http://www.windows2universe.org/earth/Atmosphere/chemical_composition.html

Oh ok thx

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

If you dont understand my explanation look at this image

Ok thx

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

If you cut the homogeneous mixture in half it will still have the same amount of elements as its other half.
