to be a function it hs to hve a one-to-one correspondence, that is hat ShayWright 11090 is not telling you. by a one to one correspondence it means, take the first element of the pair e.g. in (7.8) this would be 7, then look at the other element which is 8.if all of thee pairs are like this then it is a unction. So b is not a function because it has (1, 1).
