CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH ONE QUESTION?????? PLEASE?????? A basketball is thrown upwards. The height f(t), in feet, of the basketball at time t, in seconds, is given by the following function: f(t) = -16t2 + 94t + 12 Which of the following is a reasonable domain of the graph of the function when the basketball falls from its maximum height to the ground? 3 < t < 6 2 < t < 5 1 < t < 4 0 < t < 3
im thinking its the first one but Im not sure
Are you sure the sign is \[<\] and not\[\le\]
yes im sure
ok in that case I'm going to say that it's D
are you sure it's D?
im not sure its D either
could you explain how?
yeah can you explain
when does time start?
time starts at 0?
ideally yes :) if we had a stop watch and pressed it to start ... it starts at 0
now, when do we stop the watch? when the ball hits the ground right?
yeah
then hopefully we can chk to see that t=3 gives us a height of about 0
and the function is f(t) = -16t^2 + 94t + 12 just incase
how is t = 3?
rereading the question ... i assumed something off. same concept tho
the max height of the ball happens at the vertex of the parabola
how do we find the vertex?
to find the vertex i have to use a formula hold on
t = -b/ 2(a)
thats a good formula, and when we use it we come to about 3 when t=3 the ball is at its highest point and start to fall. so 3 to whatever should be our domain
ok so it would be the last one?
