Help please. A roller coaster has a mass of 500 kg. It drops from rest at the top of a hill that's 57 m tall. How fast is it going when it reaches the bottom? Acceleration due to gravity is g = 9.8 m/s2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Using this formula: \(v_{final}^2-v_{initial}^2=2as\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"It drops from rest" so \(v_{initial}\)= 0. \(a\) is the gravity acceleration \(g\). \(s\) is the height.

You can use conservation of energy to solve this problem. mgh = 1/2mv^2 And solve for v
