What is the new oxidation number for the atom that is oxidized in the following redox reaction? What is the new oxidation number for the atom that is oxidized in the following redox reaction? Cr2O72- + 8H+ + 3SO32 → 2Cr3+ + 3SO42- + 4H2O
srry cant help with that
still cant help only 7th grader

Please help me :3
@phi Please help me.
do you know how to determine the oxidation state of an element in a molecular formula? you can review them here http://www.occc.edu/kmbailey/chem1115tutorials/oxidation_numbers.htm
I read this site before, maybe i will need to read this again, thanks.
I can help you with your formula start looking at the first polyatomic ion that you have there Cr2O72- the O most of the times the oxidation state in the formula is (-2), then the ion has a total charge of (-2) You also has 2 Cr in the formula what do you think is going to be the oxidation state of Cr in Cr2O72- ?
you can express that with a equation were x is the oxidation state of Cr 2x+(-2) 7=-2 then calculate the value of x that will be the oxidation state of the Cr in that ion
do you still there?
