Show that the velocity of a cylinder rolling down an incline, as in the equation attached below , is independent of the mass of the cylinder?? Need help ASAP thanks!'

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

Please, you have to apply the first cardinal equation of mechanics to your cylinder, so we can write: \[m*a _{G}=m*g*\sin \alpha \] wher m is the mass of your cylinder, a_G is the acceleration of the center of gravity of your cylinder and g=9.81 m/s^2. integrating the above equation, you get the velocity of your cylinder. Nevertheless, sinc a_G is independent of m, velocity of your cylinder also will be so

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

finally alpha is slope of your rolling plane from horizontal line
