what are the signs of an endothermic reaction. like will it bubble up or dissolve. not hot or cold because i know it is hot

@tinybookworm please help

@JFraser please help

As I know, there are no signs of an endothermic reaction. We can't decide if a reaction is endothermic or not based on the products

ok thx

You are welcome

OpenStudy (zpupster):

Sort of depends on how you're looking at it so be careful. The conventions change depending on how you look at it. Endothermic means the reaction is using up heat (needs energy) so delta(H) for the reaction would be positive. Temperature of the reaction vessel would go down. https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080324170428AAP5OpM

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Think of ice. When it melts, it's endothermic, because it is absorbing energy and cools the surroundings. However, when water forms ice, its exothermic. You know this because an exothermic process releases heat, and causes the temperature of the immediate surroundings to rise.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zpupster @abb0t Agree. A physical endothermic reaction is easier to notice. And he already knew how the temperature changes in an endothermic reaction

OpenStudy (jfraser):

if you have a reaction that includes the term of energy as a reactant, it's telling you the reaction is endothermic.
