The following piecewise function gives the tax owed, T(x), by a single taxpayer on a taxable income of x dollars. T(x) = (i) Determine whether T is continuous at 6061. (ii) Determine whether T is continuous at 32,473. (iii) If T had discontinuities, use one of these discontinuities to describe a situation where it might be advantageous to earn less money in taxable income.

OpenStudy (perl):

looks like you left out T(x)

OpenStudy (perl):

so for part i) , is it continuous at x = 6061

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay :) thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bibby

OpenStudy (bibby):

>\(\large606.10+0.18(x-6061) if 6061<x\le 32,473\) it is defined at x=32,473 so I'd say yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about the third one ?

OpenStudy (bibby):

unsure, sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha its okay thanks anyway:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@perl can you help on the third one ?

OpenStudy (perl):

ok

OpenStudy (perl):

you can make up a scenario where it is advantageous

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks :)
