Which of these elements would you expect to form covalent halides: Mg, Al, P, Ne? Justify your reasoning.

Metals, such as those from group 1 and 3 definetely make ionic compound, by ionic bonds, because they lose electrons, whereas those from group 4 to 7, reacting among them form covalent bonds, because there is share or electrons, instead of gaining or lose of these. As for group 0, they are unreactive. So the answer is P.
