MEDAL AND FAN!!
A country's population in 1991 was 48 million. In 2002 it was 51 million. estimate the population in 2008 using the exponential growth formula. Round to nearest million.

so we will model it with exponential growth :
Ae^(bt)
t - years
now lets start counting from 1991 so that 1991 means t=0
so:
A = 48 million.
now in order to find b we will use the fact that in 2002 (t=11) the the population was 51 million:
48e^(11b) = 51
can you find b?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
0.0055?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes!
so your function is
48e^(0.0055t)
now you can find the value in 2008
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how do I find value in 2008?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you should plug the correct value for t

so what would i plug in?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
we said that 1991 corresponds to t=0
so 2008 means t = 17
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I don't know how to do that :/
OpenStudy (anonymous):
this class is almost over too
OpenStudy (anonymous):
48e^(0.0055 * 17)
