You've got your quadratic $ax^2 +bx +c = 0$

Take: $\left(\frac{b}{2}\right)^2$, and add it on to the existing value of c, this will become oyur new c. 

Then you'll have your equation in the form $$\left(x\pm \left(\frac{b}{2}\right)\right)^2 \pm c = 0$$
