You will have a +10 for initial height
so would I be taking away 1/2 after each bounce

I did this problem a while back. The problem I did was "A ball is dropped from a height of 12 meters. Each time it bounces, it reaches 50 percent of its previous height. The total vertical distance the ball has traveled when it hits the ground the 4th time is how many meters?" and I drew up this image to help visualize what is going on (see attached)
the ball isn't really doing diagonally like that, but it helps you see how the ball is bouncing vertically
so for your problem, it's going to be very similar at first it goes down 10 ft to hit the ground the first time then it comes back up 5 ft (5 is 50% of 10) then it goes down 5 ft to hit the ground the second time then it bounces up 2.5 ft (2.5 is 50% of 5) etc etc
so it is 0625?
or am I only suppose to calcuted the ball coming up?

you are calculating the distance it travels when it goes up and down, so both directions
In my drawing, I have the ball going down 12 ft, then it comes back up 6 ft and then goes back down 6 ft so when it hits the ground for the second time, it has gone 12+6+6 = 24 ft
