Boxcar A, with mass of 1500 kg, is traveling at 25 m/s to the east. Boxxcar B has a mass of 2000 kg, and is initially at rest. Thebox cars collide inelastically and move together after they get stuck. What is their combined velocity?

I believe you are going to use the equation... momentum of a + momentum of b = (mass of a + mass of b) V2 solve for V2

\[mv=(m + M)v \prime \] that's what the equation says... where m would be boxcar a and M would be boxcar b... you would then solve for \[v \prime \\] that's what the photo is basically saying. If you have a physics textbook it would be under a section discussing conserving momentum.
