Given the mass ratios of iron to oxygen, which of the following samples could be the mineral hematite, Fe2O3? A. 3.5:1 B. 2.3:1 C. 2:3 D. 3:2

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

@ganeshie8 I'm pretty sure it's A because the ration of iron to oxygen is 7:3 but I'm not sure. Can you please help?

@Jhannybean i really need help!! please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So follow the reaction first to find the ratio 4Fe + 3O2 - 2Fe2O3, therefore the ratio of masses are (4*56):(3*16):[2(56*2)+(3*16)] or 224:48:544 or 4.6:1:11.3
