HELP PLS MEDAL AND FAN

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Based on the bonding between molecules, which of the following substances would be expected to have the lowest melting point? A. Cu B. Ca(NO3)2 C. C12H22O11 D. SiO2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MaimiGirl it would be D) C12H22O11

Thanks Can u pls explain it also

It is because metals have strong metallic bonds and ionic compounds as well, involving for both of them attractions between cations and anions. SiO2 is very strongbecause the arrangemt is gian covalent, making the compund incredibly strong. That organic compound has simple molecular covalent bonds within the atoms and alsoth bonds that caron makes with the oxygen atoms are unsaturated and these are very weak bonds, because pi bonds ar relatively vulnerable to reactions.
