Finding the oxidation numbers in Na2SO3. I know Na = +1. I know O = -2 (-6 here) Since there is no "-" at the end, the overall charge should be 0, right? This made me believe that S would be +5 because: 0 + 1= 1 1 - 6 = -5 -5 + x = 0. I get x as 5, everyone else gets it as 4.
