The perimeter of a triangle is just adding up its sides..but first we have to find all the sides. To find the other side, we can use triangle ACD to help us. Triangle ACD is a right triangle, and the hypotenuse of ACD is the same as one of the legs of ABC, which is what we need to find. So let's use the Pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse of ACD. \(a^2 + b^2 = c^2\) Where 'a' and 'b' are the two legs, and 'c' is the hypotenuse. We are already given the two leg lengths, which are 8 and 15. Plug them in: \(a^2 + b^2 = c^2\) \(8^2 + 15^2 = c^2\) SImplify the exponents: \(64 + 225 = c^2\) Can you add 64 + 225? @aljonaeeee

289

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, that gives us: \(289 = c^2\) Now square both sides: \(c = \sqrt{289}\) Can you find the square root of 289? @aljonaeeee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

17

Yep, so that's your answer!
