What increases IN EQUAL STEPS OF ONE from left to right in the periodic table for the elements lithium to neon? A. The number of occupied electron energy levels B. the number of neutrons in the most common isotope C. The number of electrons in the atom D. The atomic mass

And explain the correct answer

OpenStudy (danjs):

When you move across the table, the atomic number increases by 1 each time from left to right, that also means the number of protons increases by 1 each step to the right. Elements in the periodic table are neutral in charge, so the number of protons and number of electrons are the same. So the number of electrons increase in equal steps of one from left to right on the periodic table.
