Solve for x: (image in comments) A. 1 B. 2 +- (sqrt11)/4 C. 5 5/16 D. 0 E. none of these. I'm getting -1/4 so E? is this correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MARC_ there is the image sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt[3]{x^3+4x-5}-x=0\]

OpenStudy (misty1212):

when you cube bot sides you get \[4x-5=0\] maklng \[x=\frac{5}{4}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt[3]{x^3+4x-5}=x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup x=5/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[=x^2-x+\frac{ 11 }{ 16 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh 5/4 somehow i was getting -1/4. so it would still be E then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

substitute x=5/4 into the second equation @clynnew

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[=(\frac{ 5 }{ 4 })^2-\frac{ 5 }{ 4 }+\frac{ 11 }{ 16 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[=\frac{ 25 }{ 16 }-\frac{ 5 }{ 4 }+\frac{ 11 }{ 16 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u do the rest @clynnew ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. so it would be 1 then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :) @clynnew

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see it. thank you :)
