At what approximate temperature and pressure can all three phases of water exist simultaneously?

OpenStudy (jordanloveangel):

r these the options 0 degrees C, 760 mm(Hg) 0.01 degrees C, 4.58 mm(Hg) 80 degrees C, 380 mm(Hg) 100 degrees C, 760 mm(Hg)

Clueless is right and wrong. The condition you want is called the triple point of water, but it is not 0 and 760, those values are standard conditions. Based on memory only, it's the 0.01 C and 4.58 mmHg value. Look up "triple point of water"+values and see what you get. this is the definition of triple point and for water it is at 0 degrees C, 760 mm(Hg)

In order for a high temperature boiler or steam engine to produce superheated steam: the system must be pressurized the heat source must be greater than 100oC the vapor pressure must be kept below 760 mm Hg the water must be permitted to evaporate quickly

OpenStudy (jordanloveangel):

the system must be pressurized
