Which of the following describes a neutral atom of oxygen? A- 6 protons, 6 neutrons, 6 electrons B- 6 protons, 6 neutrons, 8 electrons C- 8 protons, 8 neutrons, 10 electrons D- 8 protons, 8 neutrons, 8 electrons Can someone explain this to me? I don't understand how to get an answer. Thank you!

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

if u see in the periodic table ...the atomic number i:e number of protons and electrons is 8...and the mass number (number of protons and neutrons) is 16 so in order to find the neutrons only simply subtract atomic number from mass number i:e 16-8 to find neutrons only :)

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

so atomic number (number of electron and proton) is 8 where as neutrons are.....16-8=8 so its D
