mk+mq=x solve for m

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Your equation: \[mk+mq=x\] There will be no numerical answer (i.e. 5, 6, 7 etc) since there is no value given Take the letter \(m\) as common, by taking them out. \[m(k+q)=x\] Divide both sides by \(k+q\) \[m(k+q)=x\]\[\frac{m(k+q)}{k+q}=\frac{x}{k+q}\]\[\frac{m\cancel{(k+q)}}{\cancel{k+q}}=\frac{x}{k+q}\]\[m=\frac{x}{k+q}\]
