@iGreen Hi :D I need your help!

OpenStudy (igreen):

Question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'ma draw it up

OpenStudy (igreen):

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1421068806468:dw|

OpenStudy (igreen):

So 60 is the outside angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

60+60+60=180 my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and I believe so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it is and the x and y values are on the inside.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

I think it is the inside angle and the triangle being equilateral triangle.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Hmm..no actually I think they're the angles..because 3 of the angles inside add up to 180.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah my teacher mentioned that they're the angles. they're equal and all need to add up to 180

OpenStudy (igreen):

I'm not sure what 3y and 2x represent..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me either thats where Im stuck at.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

I think it represents the length of side

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Is your question online or is it on a book?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Can you take a printscreen of the picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its on paper :/

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Yea, then can you snap a pic of it and upload it?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Oh..well do you have a camera or phone you can take a quick picture with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my phone wont let me sync the picture over to the computer.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

:/

OpenStudy (igreen):

Can't you post it with your phone..?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Send yourself an e-mail?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll draw it up just like it is on the paper

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Go to a paint program and draw an exact replica of the paper sheet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1421069626673:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 3y = 60 and 2x = 60 You want x and y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (igreen):

I guess you can say that.. :l

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you solve 3y = 60?

OpenStudy (igreen):

That's what I was thinking..but I'm not sure if that's right.. :l

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is, and she was supposed to realize they were equal to 60 by the triangle being equilateral

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I knew they equaled 60 each because 60+60+60=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, so the next part, after that, is solving the two equations, 3y = 60 and 2x = 60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can I go about doing that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Imagine y and x being parts. The equation "3y = 60" says that 3 times SOMETHING = 60, how would you get that SOMETHING?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 divided by 60?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Almost, you should've taken 60 / 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I know its always the biggest number first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but 60/3=20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, so that is your 'y'.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and x is 30?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)
