If a system of equations is inconsistent, that means that there are no solutions. Think about two lines: if they cross at one point (think of an X), that means they meet at one point--there is one solution. Now think about two lines that overlap one another. They're essentially meeting at infinitely many points--there are infinitely many solutions to that system. Now think about two lines that never meet at all. If we let them go on forever, never will these two lines meet. Such a system has no solution. The problem you've posed suggests that the system has no solution (is inconsistent), so what must the slope be for this to be true?

well in your case they are parallel line they could be parallel and have infinite number of solution if the two line coincide with each other but here since y intercepts are different then they don't coincide

i don't see your answer all you need to know is that they have the same slope so that the two line will never overlap or cross with each other

Yes, the slope should be as you suggested. As @xapproachesinfinity mentioned, this is only true because the intercepts are different. I've attached a plot of the two lines.
