OpenStudy (korosh23):

A 400 g baseball thrown with a velocity of 40 m/s is hit straight back at the pitcher with a velocity of -50m/s. What is the change in momentum of the ball? What is the impulse exerted on the ball by the bat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P=mv

OpenStudy (korosh23):

I know, but can someone give me more explanation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can find change in momentum by equating momentum before and after the collision: change in momentum = p(after) - p(before) impulse is a change in momentum. it's the same as what you find above.

Thanks.
