How many grams of sample containing Cl should be taken for analysis so that the % Cl in the sample can be obtained by multiplying the weight of AgCl by 10? My teacher told me that the answer is 2.474g can somebody please help me how to solve this problem :(

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Yes, your teacher's answer is correct. First, you will need to find the molar mass of AgCl, which is 143.32. The Cl portion of the molar mass is 35.455, so the percentage of Cl is 35.455/143.32=24.738%. What is one-tenth of the percentage in weight, to four significant figures?
