Having some trouble balancing equations..
Write the formula and balance it hydrogen(g)+oxygen(g)-->water(l) wouldn't this start as h+o>>>h20 then just be h2+o2=h2o? or when you add something to one side, it has to be done to the other? i'm not sure what the rules are..
Yeah, after you balance it, it would be 2(H2) + (O2) -> 2(H20)
You just have to make sure there's the same amount of each element of both sides
Ohh..what you really mean is i can't add numbers at the end of the element, only as the co efficient?
@anitaasks
Yup, that's true. Except in this case, oxygen gas and hydrogen gas are naturally diatomic, so they are written as 02 and H2 in gas form
because if i add numbers at the end, i'm CHANGING the molecule instead of multiplying them?
Exactly!
Hmm, aside from diatomic molecules, what other molecules should I be aware of that are naturally different from the periodic table?
i know diatomic is h2, o2, n2, f2, cl2, br2, and i2
@anitaasks
Umm I think those are the main ones, I can't think of any others
alright got it thanks
