OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

A sodium atom when excited gives off two very specific wavelengths of visible light. What does this tell us about sodium? A. A sodium atom has its electrons in two energy levels. B. A sodium atom has two valence electrons. C. There are two electrons in a sodium atom. D. There are two principal electron transitions in sodium.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

@aaronq not sure about this one...

OpenStudy (aaronq):

emissions from electronic relaxations are \(quantized\), meaning they are of very specific energies. The wavelengths of the photons resulting from these emissions can be shifted, but they are two principal transitions - one for every wavelength.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

ok so D right???

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yep

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

thank you SO much!!! :)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no prob!
